OpenText Cuts About 400 Jobs, 2% of Global Workforce

The Kitchener-Waterloo software firm confirms a fresh round of global job cuts, months after a larger reduction tied to its multi-year optimization plan.

Kitchener-Waterloo-based OpenText has cut roughly 400 employees globally, about 2% of its total workforce, in what the company described as "ongoing organizational planning."

OpenText said the impact on its Canadian headcount was minimal, noting its Canadian employee base had grown 6% over the prior year.

Second round in months

The layoffs follow an earlier cut in March 2026, when OpenText shed about 4% of its global workforce as part of a multi-year "business optimization plan."
